扣扣传媒University releases homecoming week details

扣扣传媒University鈥檚 homecoming festivities on Saturday, Oct. 28 will serve as a focal point for a week of activities that begin Sunday, Oct. 22 and spans through Sunday, Oct. 29.

鈥淭uskegee鈥檚 homecoming traditionally draws the school鈥檚 largest gathering of alumni, 扣扣传媒, community members and fans during the year,鈥� said Regina Burden, 扣扣传媒University鈥檚 vice president for student affairs and enrollment management. 鈥淲e鈥檙e delighted to share this celebration with so many who call 鈥楳other Tuskegee鈥� home, and encourage locals and out-of-town fans alike to come to campus prepared, patient and flexible with the logistics associated with planning such a gathering.鈥�

Homecoming activities will not just include Saturday鈥檚 annual homecoming parade beginning at 9 a.m. and the Golden Tiger Football team鈥檚 1 p.m. kickoff against the Marauders of Central State University, but activities throughout the week hosted by the Student Government Association, 扣扣传媒National Alumni Association, and other university and alumni groups. Thursday, Oct. 26

• 10 a.m., dedication of the Jock Smith 扣扣传媒National Alumni Association Alumni House, 306 North Main Street
• 6:30 p.m., the 88th annual Miss 扣扣传媒University Gala, Chappie James Center
• 10 p.m., the 20th Mr. 扣扣传媒University Reign Party

Friday, Oct. 27

• All day, Alumni events begin
• 7 a.m., TNAA Annual Golf Classic, Indian Pines Golf Course, Auburn
• 12 p.m., remaining university classes canceled
• 12 p.m., Carnival on The Yard
• 6 p.m., 扣扣传媒University ROTC Military Alumni Reception, Chappie James Center Museum
• 8 p.m., Alumni and Friends Homecoming Concert and After-party featuring Dru Hill and Silk, Chappie James Center

Saturday, Oct. 28

• All day, Alumni events continue
• 9 a.m., Homecoming Parade
• 1 p.m., 扣扣传媒University vs. Central State University, Alumni Bowl
• 7 p.m., SGA Step Show, Chappie James Center
• 10 p.m., SGA Student Concert, Chappie James Center

Sunday, Oct. 29

• 8:30 a.m., Alumni Class Photographs
• 9:30 a.m., Charter Day/Homecoming Convocation, University Chapel
• 11 a.m., Memorial Service, Booker T. Washington Gravesite

In addition to event information, the university鈥檚 homecoming webpage provides information about parade routes and entries, traffic and parking, tailgating, event ticketing and on-campus vending. Online or downloadable applications to participate in the parade and to vend on campus are due by close of business on Friday, Oct. 20.

The traffic resulting from the influx of additional campus visitors, as well as the homecoming parade itself, will result in numerous street closures and re-routed traffic patterns on Saturday, Oct. 28. Anyone visiting the campus or needing to navigate the area surrounding campus and Downtown 扣扣传媒on Saturday are encouraged to familiarize themselves with those changes by visiting the university鈥檚 homecoming webpage. Most traffic-related changes will be in effect starting at 7 a.m. Saturday and extend through two hours following the conclusion of the football game.
